MTT, part of Travelport Digital and leading provider of sophisticated mobile travel solutions, has launched the new Android app for Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE. The new Etihad Airways Android app follows the iOS app launch in April of this year, as Travelport Digital continues to work with the airline to bring sophisticated mobile services to a wider set of customers. Popular since launch with increasing downloads, bookings and mobile check-ins; the Etihad Airways app has already received industry acclaim, named ‘Best Travel App’ at the ShortList Mobile App Awards earlier this month. The awards recognised the UAE’s best and most innovative apps and hailed the app’s clean design, ease of use and speed of booking.
Similar to the iOS app, the new Android app has a focus on an immersive user experience, seamless booking and check-in flows and on making the travel experience as simple and stress free as possible. The app includes innovative features such as airport guidance using indoor maps powered by MTT’s day of travel solution, Concierge Live. Etihad Airways’ guests can stay in complete control of their journeys directly via the app with credit card scanning for payments, passport scanning to check-in, mobile boarding passes, flight status updates, interactive seat map views and the ability to monitor their Etihad Guest miles’ balance.
Guest feedback was applied in designing the app and it’s a further step forward in Etihad Airways’ strategy to provide a convenient and more personalised digital guest experience.
Robert Webb, Chief Information and Technology Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, said: “Following on from the success of the iPhone app earlier in the year, we’ve worked to enable our guests to have a full range of services to smartphone users. As part of the ongoing investment to enhance the airline’s guest experience, we continue to invest in digital innovation to make it easier for our guests to engage with us.”
Also speaking, David Moran, CEO of Travelport Digital stated “The new Android app is a further extension of the sophisticated digital travel experience provided by Etihad Airways, empowering its guests with greater control and flexibility over the entire booking and travel experience and greater choice in how they interact with the airline. We continue to work with Etihad Airways in bringing new and innovative mobile services that enable a smooth, stress-free and enjoyable travel experience.”
